Dimensity 720 processor launched to bring 5G to cheap phones

MediaTek announced its new Dimensity 720 processor, which brings the support of 5G networks to low mid-range phones. He is also the first of the company in the Dimensity 700 series.

The company said in a statement: The new processor is manufactured with 7 nm technology, which is octa-core with two cores of the type Cortex-A76 at a frequency of 2 GHz, and 6 cores of the type Cortex-A55 at the same frequency, in addition to the graphics processor unit Mali-G57 MC3.

The Dimensity 720 processor supports phone screens with a maximum resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels with a 90Hz refresh rate. It also supports LPDD4x RAM with a maximum size of 12 GB and an internal storage of UFS 2.2 type.

The processor also supports two cameras with a maximum resolution of 20 megapixels + 16 megapixels, or one camera with 64 megapixels, in addition to a maximum resolution of video recording is 4K, and supports video features: HDR-ISP, Multi-Frame NR, and Depth Engine.

In terms of capabilities to support 5G networks, the new processor supports the 6GHz sub-standard. To address the relatively high power consumption of 5G networks, Mediatek relies on so-called 5G UltraSave technology to save some power.

The processor also supports Bluetooth 5.1 technology, and advanced APU technology for machine learning. and Phones with the new Dimensity 720 processor will be launched in the coming months, and given that the average prices for phones with Dimensity 820 processor is $ 250, it is expected that Dimensions 720 phones will be launched at a lower price.
