Twitter's preliminary investigation into the massive hack that occurred
a few days ago revealed that hackers stole the data of some of those accounts
entirely via the personal data download tool.
Twitter says that at least eight of the compromised accounts were downloaded. This means getting private messages, contacts, and more.
While Twitter did not mention these accounts by name, it reassured
that it was not among the documented accounts.
It featured 130 Twitter accounts, mostly affiliated with well-known personalities and international companies such as Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, Uber and others.
The hackers reset the password, allowing them to access 45 of the compromised accounts.
The hackers posted fabricated tweets on the hacked accounts claiming
that if any of the followers sent bitcoin money to their own address, they
would double it, and of course that would not happen.
It appears that the hack was not primarily financially motivated,
because the data that can be obtained from those hacked accounts may otherly be
employed, although those accounts whose data were downloaded were not as
sensitive as the documented accounts of the prestigious figures.
