Corning, the maker of the most popular protective glass in the mobile market, announced today, Thursday, the new generation of glass, called Gorilla Glass Victus, which is the most durable yet.
Corning said in a statement: The new glass (Gorilla Glass Victus) is
able to withstand even if it falls from a height of two meters, as it is the
first in six years to resist the most difficult types of scratching, especially
of keys and coins.
Since Corning launched Gorilla Glass 3 in 2014 with the best scratch
resistance at the time, subsequent releases have not come: Gorilla Glass 4,
Gorilla Glass 5, and Gorilla Glass 6 in any Substantial improvement.
According to the company, the glass (Gorilla Glass Victus)
has twice the scratch resistance provided by (Gorilla Glass 6), and four
times the resistance in the protection glass from competitors. The company also
said: The glass survived 20 falls from a height of one meter. By comparison,
Gorilla Glass 6 survived 15 falls of the same height.
A Corning spokesman said: “This glass is a significant
improvement compared to the previous flagship glass (Gorilla Glass 6),
both for fall and scratch resistance. We felt that this glass variety deserved
a name that makes it clear that the difference is more than just being gradual.
” So the company chose not to name the new version (Gorilla
Glass 7), but (Victus), which is a word derived from the
Latin language and means survival.
It is scheduled to see the new (Gorilla Glass Victus) glass
first in a Samsung product “in the near future”, which means that it may be the
Galaxy Note 20 series phones that are expected to be announced during the next
Unpacked event scheduled on August 5.
