Google Maps .. How to check traffic around you?

Google Maps application is one of the most famous applications in the world, it works very well, however, not every feature in the application is easy to find, as the application allows you to see traffic levels around you, but this feature is somewhat hidden.

In many cities, Google will display current traffic levels using a color-coded system - green represents light traffic, yellow is medium traffic, orange represents heavy traffic, and red represents very congested levels of traffic.

While you will see traffic along the route automatically planned when you drive to a specific destination, this color code does not extend to streets not on your lane, but there is an overlay available on Google Maps that lets you see these traffic levels everywhere.

How to check traffic on Google Maps using smartphones:

  • Launch the Google Maps application on your smartphone.
  • Click the overlay icon - it's a pile of squares and can be found near the top-right of the map, under the Quick Links.
  • In Map Details section of the pop-up window, click Traffic.

Traffic overlay will appear; Any routes with traffic information will appear color-coded - green, yellow, orange, and red to indicate increased traffic levels - and if you don't see anything, the traffic data is not available or your internet connection may not be fast enough.

How to check web browser traffic:

  • Open Google Maps in a web browser.
  • Click on three lines on the top left of the screen to see the menu.
  • Click on Traffic option.

Traffic overlay will appear; Any roads containing traffic information will be color-coded green, yellow, orange and red to indicate increased traffic levels, but if you do not see anything, the traffic data is not available.
