Intel today, Wednesday, officially announced the first batch of its
processors of 11 generation called Tiger Lake for laptops.
The American electronic chip giant said in a statement: The
processors are distinguished by the presence of its own Intel Iris Xe graphics
chip, support for Thunderbolt 4 transmission standard, Wi-Fi 6 networks,
and a significant jump in performance and power consumption, compared to the
tenth generation Ice Lake processors. She added that its eleventh-generation
processors would provide users with "the best processor for thin and light
portable personal computers."
Intel released 9 new 11th-generation designs for both U-Series -
which Intel now refers to as UP3 - and Y Series - also known as UP4 - led
by Core i7-1185G7, which delivers base speeds of 3.0GHz and single-core
overclocking at a maximum. Up to 4.8GHz, and all cores up to a maximum of
4.3GHz. It also features the most powerful integrated graphics chip Intel Iris
Xe, with 96 controllers, and a maximum graphics speed of 1.35GHz.
The company had already talked about the new processors at its
Architecture Day 2020 event earlier this year. The new eleventh-generation
processors are still built on the 10-nanometer node, similar to the current
tenth-generation Ice Lake processors, but they have received an upgrade to the
Willow Core architecture through the new 10nm SuperFin design, which Intel says
will provide better speeds with less energy consumption.
Intel hasn't identified these performance increases, but it promises
that the new chips will provide 20% faster speeds for daily "office
productivity" tasks, along with a similar 20% increase in
"system-wide power," which means it produces more than an additional
hour. From battery life to things like streaming video.
Intel is betting on the new integrated graphics chip Xe, which
promises to deliver up to twice the graphics performance, and which the company
says will provide more substantial benefits than just an increase in the number
of initial cores.
The advantage of the new processors that it supports 8K HDR displays,
along with the option to use up to four 4K HDR screens at one time. There are
also improvements to the built-in artificial intelligence engine, which Intel
says will provide specific improvements for video calls, such as blurring the
background.
The new processors are expected to be launched in a variety of
systems in the coming days and weeks, with Intel’s promise of more than 150
products with the eleventh-generation Intel Core processors from companies such
as: Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, LG, Lenovo, And MSI, and Samsung.
In addition to announcing the next generation of portable personal
computer processors, Intel has changed its logo.
