Sony will broadcast the 40-minute event online, announcing updates on upcoming games to the platform from Sony's or third-party studios.
The company says of the event that it is "another look at some
of the great games coming to the PlayStation 5 at launch (and beyond!),"
And the event comes just before the platform launches later this year.
It is also possible that Sony will allocate the event to announce the
launch date of the PlayStation 5 platform, in addition to the price, similar to
its competitor Microsoft, which announced two days ago the launch date of the
Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S platforms, and the price.
It is noteworthy that the Sony event will be broadcast next Wednesday
at 11 pm Mecca time.
In June, Sony officially announced the fifth generation of the
PlayStation gaming platform, in preparation for launching it in the market by
the end of this year.
The Japanese company presented a review of the design and specifications
of the platform, which comes in black and white, for the platform itself, the
control unit, earphones, the control device, and the camera.
At launch, Sony will provide users with one of two options, as the
first comes with an Ultra HD Blu-ray CD player, and the other without the
reader as PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.
As for the specifications, Sony has already revealed it, as it
contains a dedicated version of the octa-core AMD Zen 2 processor with a
frequency of 3.5 GHz, and a dedicated copy of the AMD RDNA 2 graphics processor
with a power of 10.28 teraflops.
The platform contains 16 GB GDDR6 random access memory (RAM) and 825
GB SSD storage. Sony had previously focused on the ability of SSDs to speed up
game loading, and compared the PlayStation 4 - which does not use technology -
and PlayStation 5, as the first took about 20 seconds to download a gigabyte of
data, while it did not take 5 gigabytes of data to transfer in The other only
one second.
The company said at the time: The PlayStation 5 will not only support
SSD - which come from the type of NVMe SSD - as it will also support external
storage disks that will be dedicated to supporting the old PlayStation 4 games.
By way of comparison, Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox
Series X share some specifications, including the processor and the graphics
processor. But the Microsoft platform is stronger by 12 teraflops, instead of
10.28 teraflops. Then, the internal storage disk in the Xbox Series X will come
with a capacity of 1 TB, instead of 825 GB.
The platform supports 8K games and 4K games at 120 frames per second. It will also support 3D sound technology, and will support low-power consumption mode to save energy, compatibility with PlayStation 4 games.
